Plans and billing
Last updated 31 October 2026
Spellwarden bills each organisation separately, per member, on the Team or the Enterprise plan, monthly or annually. Every new organisation starts with a 14-day trial of Team and needs no card for it. Payments go through Creem, the merchant of record, which charges the tax that applies to you and issues your invoices.
This guide explains what you pay and when: the prices and minimums, how seats are counted, what happens when you change plan or billing period, how cancelling works, and what happens when a payment fails. The terms and conditions are the binding text; this page explains them.
Plans and prices
| Plan | Monthly | Annual |
|---|---|---|
| Team | EUR 5 per member per month | EUR 54 per member per year |
| Enterprise | EUR 10 per member per month | EUR 108 per member per year |
- Annual billing costs 10% less than twelve monthly payments.
- Team bills at least 10 members and Enterprise at least 50. An organisation with fewer members pays for the minimum: Team with 4 members pays for 10 seats, EUR 50 a month before VAT.
- Above the minimum you pay for each member: Enterprise annual with 60 members is 60 seats at EUR 108, EUR 6,480 a year before VAT.
- There is no platform fee and no cap on members. The pricing section of the home page lists what each plan includes; single sign-on through your own identity provider is on Enterprise only.
The free trial
A new organisation gets 14 days of the Team plan with no card. Owners and billing members get an email before the trial ends and on the day it ends. Adding billing during the trial ends the trial and starts the paid plan that day.
If no billing is added by the end of the trial, the organisation becomes read-only (see Read-only organisations) until an owner or billing member adds it. Nothing is deleted.
Who manages billing
Owners and billing members manage billing: they add it, change the plan, cancel and open Creem's billing page. Billing is a role for someone who only looks after payments, such as a finance colleague, and billing members are not charged for. Everyone else in the organisation can see the plan on the Billing page but not change it.
Each organisation needs its own billing account: an email address that already pays for one organisation cannot pay for another. To pay for a second organisation, an owner or billing member with a different email address adds billing there.
Add billing
- In the dashboard, open Settings, then Billing.
- Choose the plan and monthly or annual billing. The page shows the number of seats and the total before VAT.
- Select Add billing. Creem's secure checkout opens with the number of seats already set: the members you have, never fewer than the plan's minimum.
- Enter the payment details and pay. Creem shows the tax before you pay. Once Creem confirms the payment, the Billing page shows the plan as active.
One checkout can be open at a time: after starting one, finish it in the tab where it opened, or start again after 30 minutes.
Seats
Owners, managers, members and viewers count as seats; billing members are free. The number of seats follows the member list and never falls below the plan's minimum.
- On monthly billing, a change in the number of members applies from the next renewal, without proration: the next month is billed for the members you have then.
- On annual billing, a change applies at once and is prorated for the rest of the year, both ways: Creem charges for a member added and refunds a member removed.
- Below the minimum, adding or removing members changes nothing you pay.
- Seats that change together with a move to a higher plan, or while a subscription is raised to its minimum, are charged at once.
Change plan or billing period
On the Billing page, choose the plan and the billing period, then select Change plan. A move up applies at once; a move down applies at the end of the current period.
| Change | Applies | What you pay |
|---|---|---|
| Team to Enterprise | At once | The price difference for the rest of the current period, including the move to Enterprise's minimum of 50 seats |
| Monthly to annual billing | At once | A new annual period starts that day: Creem charges the year and refunds the unused part of the current month |
| Enterprise to Team | At the end of the current period | Nothing more for the current period, and no refund; from the renewal, the Team price for the members you have then |
| Annual to monthly billing | At the end of the current year | No refund; from the renewal, the monthly price, and a new monthly period starts that day |
A move down is a move to Team, to monthly billing, or both; a move to Team is a move down even with annual billing, so Enterprise monthly to Team annual applies at the end of the month and the annual period starts then. When you choose one, the page asks first and says the date it applies. Until then the organisation keeps its plan, its period and single sign-on, and the Billing page shows the move and its date with a Keep the current plan button that drops it. Choosing another move down replaces it; a move up drops it and applies at once.
Moving from Team annual to Enterprise monthly is both: the organisation moves to Enterprise annual at once, charged the difference for the rest of the year, and to Enterprise monthly when that year ends. The page asks first and names both steps.
- Moving to Team turns single sign-on off at the renewal. People who sign in only through it then lose access until they are invited again, so the page asks you to confirm.
- In the last few hours before the renewal, the move down is being made with Creem. Until the renewal, the plan cannot be changed again and the move can no longer be dropped.
- A move down cannot be asked for while the subscription is ending. Keep the subscription first (see Cancel and keep the subscription).
Cancel and keep the subscription
Select Cancel subscription on the Billing page. The organisation keeps full access until the end of the period it paid for, then becomes read-only. Nothing more is charged. Until that date, Keep subscription undoes the cancellation and billing goes on as before.
Cancelling drops a scheduled move down, and keeping the subscription does not bring it back: ask for the move again if you still want it.
Cancel in the dashboard, not on Creem's billing page: cancelling there ends the subscription at once, without the rest of the period. To use the organisation again after it ended, add billing again.
Payments, invoices and taxes
Creem (creem.io) is the merchant of record: it is the legal seller, takes the payment, charges the VAT or sales tax that applies to you and issues your invoices. Prices on Spellwarden are before tax; Creem shows the tax at checkout.
Manage billing on the Billing page opens Creem's billing page, where you update the payment method and download invoices. Renewals are charged automatically at the start of each period.
When a payment fails
If a renewal payment fails, the organisation keeps full access for 14 days, and the dashboard shows the date by which to update the payment method on Creem's billing page (Manage billing). If the payment has still not gone through after 14 days, the organisation becomes read-only until the payment method is updated.
Read-only organisations
An organisation becomes read-only when its trial ends without billing, when its payments failed for 14 days, or when its subscription ended. Everyone can still sign in and see everything. Changes are paused, and so are API keys and connected apps (MCP). Owners can still invite billing members. Adding billing, or updating the payment method after failed payments, ends the read-only state.
Refunds
- A period that has started is not refunded, except where the law requires it. A move down or a cancellation applies at the end of the period for that reason.
- If you subscribe as a consumer in the EU, you can withdraw within 14 days of the start of a paid subscription by emailing hello.invalid [at] spellwarden [dot] ai: you get back what you paid less the days the subscription was active. Business customers have no statutory right of withdrawal.
- On annual billing, removing members refunds them for the rest of the year (see Seats).
- If you think you were charged in error, email hello.invalid [at] spellwarden [dot] ai with your Creem order ID and we resolve it with you through Creem.
Deleting an organisation
Deleting an organisation cancels its subscription at once, with no refund for the rest of the period. To stop paying but keep access until the end of the period, cancel the subscription instead.
